Itasca Consulting Group is pleased to be offering introductory training for FLAC Version 8.0. This training course introduces users to the application of FLAC for geotechnical numerical analysis. The course consists of three days of general feature training with an optional fourth day.
General feature training topics include grid creation, application of boundary conditions, selection of appropriate constitutive (material) models, solution of the static equilibrium state, simulation of the construction stages, installation of structural support, inclusion of either transient or steady groundwater flow states and example applications of FLAC for civil underground construction analysis.
This course is “hands-on” training, and exercises with FLAC are provided throughout the course.
There is also a focused fourth day available. You can select either Advanced FISH or Dynamics at a cost of $500.
For the same cost of $500, you may also choose four hours of one-on-one time with an Itasca employee to discuss other topics that meet your individual needs. This option is subject to availability.
Dr. Varun is a geotechnical engineer with specialization in earthquake engineering and soil dynamics. He has experience with analytical and numerical modeling and has been involved with projects related to seismic hazard mitigation for waterfront structures, dynamic response of foundations, site response, and soil-structure interaction.
Dr. Radaković-Guzina's research has focused on the areas of structural dynamics, non-destructive characterization of concrete, damage mechanics and wave propagation. She is responsible for FORTRAN and C/C++ programming development and support for Itasca's FLAC and FLAC3D software, and she assists with the development and testing of the Graphical User Interface (GUI) for Itasca codes.
Mr. Wang is a senior geomechanics engineer with experience in mining engineering and geotechnical engineering. His research involves numerical modeling and simulation, and has involved projects related to sheet-pile walls with retained slope, mine-void detection using geophysical methods and stability of underground mines.
Who Should Attend?
This course is suitable for new FLAC users as well as experienced users who want to become more familiar with the features available in FLAC version 8.
What to Bring?
This is a hands-on course. Each participant must have a laptop. You must have administrative rights and Windows 7, 8, or 10.
